As you sit in your home and eat that fifth bag of Doritos that’s been in the pantry since the New Year’s party, the one that you had forgotten about until you found it during a midnight snack raid because, just like everyone else, your sleep schedule is entirely messed up after this quarantine, I hope the picture of that delicious-looking slice of bread made you stop for a second. Trust me— it’s even better than it looks.
Three-ingredient beer bread is one of my favorite things that my mom makes; it’s so easy that even I could make it (and that’s saying something!)
Whether you’re a culinary novice or a seasoned chef, this beer bread recipe is sure to brighten up your quarantine. No yeast or kneading necessary! Just follow the directions and you’ll have a perfectly baked loaf to show off to all of your social media friends.
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Prep Time: 10 minutes
3 cups of self-rising flour
½ cup of sugar
12 oz beer
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Spray a bread pan with cooking spray.
Gently mix flour, sugar, and beer until it’s all thoroughly combined (batter should be thick).
Pour the batter into the bread pan and cook it for 40 minutes.
Take the bread out of the oven and let it sit for five minutes in the pan, then remove it and let it cool before slicing.
***Pro tip: add a few tablespoons of melted butter on top before and after baking for a crispy, rich crust
When you’re done, you should have a nice, fluffy loaf of bread. It tastes great with a butter spread or by itself. My mom usually serves it with broccoli cheddar soup, but personally I could eat the whole loaf as is.
Enjoy your bread at home with your family, by yourself, or with a pet and maybe in a few weeks you can show off your new recipe to your friends.
